Operating in over 30 countries and serving more than 26 million customers, E.ON is the world’s largest investor-owned energy service provider. ‘Home of the Future with E.ON’ was created to look at the latest ventures into Energy Saving Technology.
Opportunity
E.ON Innovation launched five exciting challenges in connection with Channel 4’s documentary series ‘Home of Future with E.ON’ to generate fresh innovative ideas and help the UK save energy. The series features – The Pereras, a regular family from Sheffield, who’s lives are transformed by cutting-edge technology, giving them a taste of how we all might be living the future.Solution
This is the second challenge where Chaordix collaborates with our partners at 100%Open to manage a crowd engagement program aimed at UK TV viewers who will follow a family as their home is transformed with futuristic technology, gadgets, and the latest in energy saving and generation products. Each episode explores different aspects of the family’s life, themed around rest, work, play, food, and wellbeing. Aligned with the TV program, the aim is to build an online innovation community with thousands of contributors who will submit ideas, discuss and vote on which ideas get reviewed by an expert panel. New products and services ideas will not only be popular and profitable, but also practical, making a real difference to the future of energy.Impact
The project represents the next stage of E.ON Innovation, a co-creation programme with E.ON’s customers to develop new products and services. Launched in 2010, E.ON Innovation has so far resulted in the development of four new product and service propositions, with members of the public being rewarded for their winning idea contributions. Encouraged by that success and the challenge around electric vehicles, E.ON Innovation launched this wider mainstream customer co-creation challenge.“Individuals and companies are looking for innovative, fun and creative solutions to save energy in our future homes.”— E.ON UK
